DarkNowhere is a fledgling online publication focused on original short fiction, horror industry news, and horror focused editorial pieces. If you can turn a phrase and have a love for all things horror, we’re currently open to new authors!
What kind of content do we publish?
Our content spread can be split up into three categories: News, Editorial, and Fiction.
News pieces are focused on happenings within the Horror industry (Movies, TV, Home Video, Video Games, etc). Think Bloody-Disgusting, or Dread Central. Often these pieces can be sourced from official press releases or other sources in the online space with proper attribution and complimentary linking.
As time goes on we fully expect to have access to interview opportunities and press-only media materials.
DarkNowhere authors are equipped with official e-mails that can be used to acquire access to studio press sites and similar resources.
News writing is by-line only, which includes an author bio you are free to use to promote your social media or other online, or offline, ventures.
Editorial pieces are entirely original articles that explore an idea. Five movies that would make great remakes, The psychology of Hannibal Lecter, The most haunted places in America, you get the picture. Reviews and anything of an opinion nature also fall under this category.
Editorial pieces also have a high likelihood of crossing over into our planned Weekly Podcast coming in spring 2021.
Editorial pieces are also by-line only.
It is DarkNowhere’s goal to feature 8 original short horror stories a month. Our ‘brand’ of horror fiction is stories with a strong supernatural angle that feature well-developed characters. We ARE open to more psychological horror as well, but it has to have an extraordinary angle to it — no serial killers.
DarkNowhere wants classy fiction so no rape, porn, or otherwise degenerate material. That said, some solid gore is perfectly okay as long as it’s not the end-all be-all of your work.
DarkNowhere currently pays $10 via PayPal for 3-month exclusive rights. Paid on acceptance.
In addition to being promoted on the site, fiction will be adapted to podcast form for our bi-weekly fiction podcast featuring professional voice over talent.
We accept submissions of 1,000 – 5,000 Words in length.
We do accept simultaneous submissions but do not currently accept reprints.
